Plain white rice

November 27, 2024 by Dagny @ break thy bread Leave a Comment

a ball of plain white rice on a gray square plate. gray stone tablespoon on the plate next to the rice. one parsley leaf on top of the rice.

Plain white rice is one of the basics dishes in so many cousins

This recipe works well with Jasmine rice. Switching to different kind of rice, might not give you the same results. Jasmine rice is my favorite and this is my way to make it.

INGREDIENTS

2 Tbsp oil

2 cups white Jasmine rice

2 cups water

1 tsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS

Wash the rice well, in a strainer, till the water runs clear. keep it in the strainer to drain.

Heat your pot on medium high, and add oil .

When it’s hot, add the washed rice.

Keep cooking till the rice is no longer wet and it is well coated with oil.

Add water and salt and bring to a boil on high heat.

Stir.

Cover and turn the heat to low, but not to the lowest level (I use 2/10).

Cook for exactly 15 min.

After 15 min, turn off the heat, but leave the pot on the hot range. DO NOT open the lid.

Set a timer to 5 minutes, then open and fluff the rice using a fork.

Close the lid and leave on the range for 5 more min.
